Magnetically Steerable Gastric Capsule Endoscopy (MSGCE) is a novel system primarily used for the diagnosis of gastric and small intestinal diseases. Due to a large cavity of the stomach and the passively moving modality of the capsule, the traditional capsule endoscopy (CE) cannot be used to examine the stomach properly. The magnetically controlled capsule system enabled the observation of the entire stomach. It is mainly used for patients who have indications for gastroscopy, but are unwilling to receive the examination or cannot tolerate the procedure (including painless gastroscopy). Since 2015, we have performed 20,131 cases of capsule endoscopy in the department of gastroenterology Nanfang hospital. The Magnetically Steerable Capsule Endoscopy was used in the institute since 2016 August. In this presentation, I will talk about the development and clinical application of the Magnetically Steerable Gastric Capsule Endoscopy.
