There are two ways of colorectal cancer screening. The first is direct colonoscopy screening using colonoscopy as the primary screening tool. The second is high-risk approach using stool occult blood test as the primary screening test and colonoscopy is offered for only those who are positive for stool test. In most Asian countries, endoscopic capacity is rather constrained and all existent screening programs take the high-risk strategy using fecal immunochemical test (FIT) as the primary screening test.
In this presentation, the following issues will be addressed:
1. Epidemiology and current status of population CRC screening in Asia
2. Why stratifies screening is necessary in Asia
3. Current evidence on FIT for CRC screening in Asia
4. Risk score approach for CRC screening
