Changes in practice that have occurred since then have resulted in position statements and other documents being issued by the relevant bodies to update the recommendations in the interim. A multi-disciplinary committee was convened to undertake the writing of the new document. This presentation focusses on changes in that document relating to reprocessing room layout, water quality for reprocessing, the role of biofilm in all aspects of reprocessing, controlled environment storage of endoscopes post reprocessing, and microbiological surveillance testing protocols for drying/storage cabinets. A full list of changes is identified in the publication. The updated document will guide all aspects of infection prevention and control in the practice of endoscopy.
