Dr. Rosaida binti Hj Md Said is wearing two hats: a senior consultant physician specialized in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and the Head of Medical Department of the Serdang Hospital. She graduated from the University of Malaya back in 1990, and was awarded a master’s degree by the National University of Malaysia in 1998. She subsequently received 3-year sub-specialty training, and was gazetted as a Clinical Gastroenterologist in 2003. Apart from clinical routines, she has evolved into a leading voice in the field of Gastroenterology and Hepatology over the years. She is currently the National Deputy Head of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Services. Regardless of the great responsibility placed on her shoulders, she also chairs the Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Specialization Program, the Credentialing Committee of Endoscopy Services for Nurses and Medical Assistants, the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Subspecialty Fellowship Program, and the Gastro-Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Medicine Taskforce. She has also never let go of her passion in clinical research, evidenced by her participation in more than 30 industry-sponsored projects and numerous publications. Some of her many other noteworthy contributions include developing local Clinical Practice Guidelines for Colorectal Cancer and Viral Hepatitis; formulating Standard Operating Procedures for gastroenterology and Endoscopy Services; and assisting in the Health Technology Assessment projects on Immunochemical Faecal Occult Blood Test (iFOBT), Colonoscopy-Based Colorectal Cancer Screening, and Economic Evaluation for Non-Invasive Liver Fibrosis Tests.
