Prof. Chen attended the Taipei Medical University School of Medicine, where he gained his M.D., and earned his PhD from the National Yang-Ming University, Institute of Clinical Medicine. Dr. Chen was invited to UCLA, Los Angeles, California, USA as a visiting scholar in The Brain-Gut Interaction Laboratory, CURE / DDRC. He holds the current positions of Professor at National Yang-Ming University School of Medicine, as well as Ward Director and Attending Physician at Taipei Veterans General Hospital, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
Prof. Chen is the Associate Editor of Nutrition, as well as Journal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle. He is a Guest Professor of Kagoshima University Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences in Japan, and Surveyor, WHO-SIDCER/FERCAP (World Health Organization-Strategic Initiative for Developing Capacity in Ethical Review/Forum for Ethical Review Committees in the Asian and Western Pacific Region). He serves as the Secretary General of Taiwan Association for the Study of Small Intestinal Diseases, Executive Director of Chinese Taipei Society for the Study of Obesity, and Supervisor of Taiwan Association of Institutional Review Boards.
Prof. Chen has extensive research experience in integrative pharmaco-physiology, brain-gut interactions, behavior-associated gut neuroendocrinology and bariatric surgery. He has published 125 peer-reviewed articles. Among them, two papers have been cited more than 150 times.
