Prof. Shutian Zhang is CEO of Beijing Friendship Hospital, Capital Medical University. He received his MD and PhD degrees from Shandong Medical College and Capital Medical University respectively. He serves as the president of National Clinical Research Center for Digestive Disease and Chinese Society of Digestive Endoscopology. Now he is the chairman of Chinese Association of Gastroenterologist & Hepatologist of Chinese Medical Doctor Association. Professor Zhang has published more than 150 papers on the domestic and international medical journals, and recently he has published four books. He has undertaken national "863 Program", national "973 Program", the 12th Five-Year Plan and National Natural Science Foundation projects. He was awarded the 3rd Prize of Beijing Science & Technology Development and many prizes from Chinese Medical Association for his work in Gastroenterology. As a clinician, Dr. Zhang has worked in different basic and clinical fields related to gastrointestinal diseases, major specialty is diagnosis and treatment of early esophageal, gastric and colon cancer; he is also interested in searching new methods of diagnosing and managing digestive diseases, such as biliary & pancreatic diseases, gastrointestinal bleeding, etc.
