Dr. Shobna Bhatia is a Consultant in the Department of Gastroenterology at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre. Prior to this, she was Professor and Head of Gastroenterology at Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital, Mumbai, India She underwent an advanced fellowship training in Esophageal Motility and pH studies at Philadelphia under Dr. Donald O Castell, and has established diagnostic motility services (solid-state manometry with impedance and pHmetry) and biofeedback for patients with swallowing disorders and constipation. She has more than 25 years of experience in the field of Gastroenterology, especially in diagnosis and management of swallowing disorders, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and constipation. She has been a member of various national and international organisations for creating practice guidelines on GERD and Irritable Bowel Syndrome. She is also a member of the Rome V committee for making guidelines on Esophageal disorders. She is the coordinator of Indian Society of Gastroenterology (ISG) Task Force on GERD, and is the lead author for publishing guidelines for physicians and gastroenterologists for management of GERD. She is the ISG Chairperson for the Task Force on Dyspepsia. She is a core group member for the Task Force on Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Dr. Bhatia has authored more than 100 scientific papers and book chapters on esophageal motility, GERD, and irritable bowel syndrome.
