Dr. James Lau graduated from the Medical School of the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. Dr. Lau is currently Professor of Surgery and Chairman, Department of Surgery, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Dr. Lau is known internationally for his clinical research in the management of bleeding peptic ulcers. He published several landmark studies investigating the relative roles of endoscopic treatment, pharmaco-therapy and surgery. His recent projects include the use of angiographic coiling in the treatment of bleeding ulcers refractory to endoscopic hemostasis, endoscopic metallic stenting of hilar malignancy and direct cholangioscopy.
