Datuk Dr Ryan Ponnudurai graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland and pursued his Internal Medicine residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, USA. He obtained his Board Certification in 1996 and then spent three years in the subspecialty training of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation, La Jolla, California. On successfully passing the Board Certification in Gastroenterology, he moved to Toronto, Canada to enhance his training with a year of advanced endoscopy fellowship at the Wellesley Hospital. This led to a further six month training scheme at the University Eppendorf in Hamburg to master endoscopic ultrasound. He returned to Malaysia in 2001 and joined Selayang Hospital as Consultant Gastroenterologist and head of endoscopy services for six years before joining Prince Court Medical Centre. He is frequently invited to international conferences to perform at live endoscopy courses and has published in peer reviewed journals.
