Ian Roberts-Thomson
Professor Ian Roberts-Thomson has now retired from clinical practice but continues to work as a reviewer, editor and writer, mostly in the area of Gastroenterology. He was an Editor of the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology for several years and is currently an Associate Editor of JGH Open. In addition, he was Chair of the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Foundation from 2016-20 and remains on the JGHF Committee. His research interests have varied over time but are currently focused on the pathogenesis of chronic inflammation, particularly gastrointestinal inflammation in inflammatory bowel disease and gastritis associated with Helicobacter pylori. In his clinical career, he was Director of the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide, Australia, from 1985 to 2013. He was also associated with the University of Adelaide as a Clinical Professor and, on his retirement, as an Emeritus Professor. He has had a long-standing interest in the development of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in the Asia-Pacific region.
