In 1981, I graduated from Tokyo University. After training at Tokyo University Hospital and Tokyo Metropolitan Hospital, I entered Second Department of Surgery, Tokyo University. In 1988, I obtained PhD from Tokyo University and studied abroad at Department of Transplantation, Huddinge Hospital, Karolinska Institute, from which I obtained PhD in 1991. In 1996, I became Associate Professor of Second Department of Surgery, Tokyo University and engaged in hepatobiliary pancreatic surgery and liver transplantation. I became Professor of Second Department of Surgery, Dokkyo Medical University. From 2020, I became Director of University Hospital.
