Professor O Móráin is the national. clinical lead for gastroenterology and hepatology in Ireland He is an emeritus professor of medicine and a former Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Trinity College Dublin He was President of the United European Gastroenterology and the Biomedical Alliance for Health Research in Europe He is a founder member of the European Board of Gastroenterology and the European Helicobacter and Microbiome Study Group He has published over 300 scientific papers and authored or co authored 6 books He was awarded a DSc for his published work from London University and a DSc from the university of Athens for his contribution to European Gastroenterology He is an elected member of the Royal Irish Academy He has received many awards including Life Time Achievement Awards from the United European Gastroenterology Dubli and thE Irish Society of Gatroenterology He received his postgraduate training in Dublin Nice London New York and Bethesda His research interest are Helicobacter Inflammatory Bowel Disease and colorectal cancer screening.
