Dr. Chen is Professor of Medicine at Sun Yat-sen University, the Chief at the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, China. His clinical focus is patients with IBD. Dr. Chen has published more than 400 articles (including The Lancet, Gastroenterology, Gut, Lancet Gastroenterol Hepatol，Am J Gastroenterol) and book chapters and has been recognized for his expertise as indicated through invitations to the pathogenesis, diagnosis and management of IBD, as well as many international invitations as a speaker, chair or conference faculty. Dr. Chen serves as an abstract reviewer for all major GI conferences, he is the present chief editor Journal of Digestive Diseases and past associate editor Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and on several editorial boards of medical journals including GUT and Lancet Gastroenterol Hepatol. He is the founder of the IBD Quality Care Evaluation Center in China (IBDQCC) and Chinese IBD Elite Union which covers the largest IBD network in China. Dr Chen serves as the president of Chinese Society of Gastroenterology, and president of Asian Organization of Crohn’s and Colitis. Dr. Chen is the leading PI on more than 30 international and national randomized clinical trials of biologics and small molecules on IBD. He is funded by more than 40 national and international grants including the Helmsley Charitable Trust.
