PROFESSOR KENNETH E.L. McCOLL MD, FRCP, F.Med.Sci, FRSE Professor McColl obtained his Medical Degree from the University of Glasgow in 1974 and then undertook training in both General Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. In 1980, he was awarded a Medical Research Council Travelling Fellowship and spent one year in the University of California, San Francisco. In 1984 he was appointed Consultant Physician in Gastroenterology in the Western Infirmary, Glasgow and in 1992 he was appointed Professor of Gastroenterology in the University of Glasgow. Professor McColl has led an active research group focusing on the aetiology and pathophysiology of upper gastrointestinal disease. Professor McColl’s contribution to medicine and science has been recognised by being elected a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
