Dr. Sundeep Lakhtakia is the director of Endoscopy & EUS at Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, AIG Hospitals, Hyderabad, India. He has an interest in Clinical Gastroenterology, Endoscopic interventions, especially EUS & ERCP. He graduated from Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi. He received his MD (Internal Medicine) from the prestigious Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, and DM (fellowship in Gastroenterology) from Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, India. He is the current secretary of the Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India (SGEI) and vice-chair of the International Committee of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). He has more than 140 original publications in international & national indexed journals and several book chapters. He is a peer reviewer in many indexed national and international journals. He is an invited expert, including live courses, for major international and national endoscopy conferences. He has received numerous awards and scholarships during his academic career, including the prestigious “Young Investigator Award” at Asia Pacific Digestive Week at Cebu, Philippines in 2006. He was awarded the Fellowship of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (FASGE) in 2014. He has been appointed as visiting professor at the University of Medicine, Mandalay, Myanmar since 2016. He is a technical committee member of various Asian Endoscopic and EUS associations. He worked as the core organizing member of the first World Endoscopy Organization (WEO) conference in Hyderabad, India in 2017.
