Professor Chiu is the clinical professor of the National Taiwan University and the attending physician of the National Taiwan University Hospital. He was graduated and got his bachelor's degree from Department of Medicine, Taipei Medical University in 1995. After two years’ military service, he received residency training in National Taiwan University Hospital from 1997 to 2000, including 2 years fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology. He also obtained his Ph.D. degree from Institute of Preventive Medicine, College of Public Health, National Taiwan University in 2010. He was awarded many times, including Prof Juei-Low Sung’s Research Award for Young Investigators in 2007, Distinguished Young Investigator Award of National Taiwan University Hospital in 2009, and distinguished abstract award in Digestive Diseases Week in 2012, 2015, and 2016. Professor Chiu has been devoted to the research of colorectal cancer (CRC) screening and colonoscopy for 20 years and he is currently the secretary-general of the Gastroenterology Society of Taiwan (GEST), council member of Digestive Endoscopy Society of Taiwan (DEST), principal investigator of Taiwan CRC Screening Program and Asian-chair of World Endoscopy Organization (WEO) CRC Screening Committee. He is also a member of the Asia-Pacific working group on CRC and actively participates in several multi-center cooperative studies in this area. He was also invited to several overseas conferences/lectures and live endoscopy workshops.
