Welcome Message from the President of Asian Pacific Digestive Week 2021
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
The world is in a race to contain the Covid-19 pandemic as cases surge sporadically in different parts of the world, in particular, in recent months in Malaysia. As a result, increased precautionary measures and restrictions on all activities have been implemented in order to stem the tide to protect our communities and our loved ones.
In alignment with this effort, the Local Organising Committee has made the difficult but necessary decision to transform the APDW 2021, with the theme of ‘Vision of Excellence in Digestive Disorders & Sciences’ to a virtual conference, scheduled on 19 -22 August 2021. We are committed to maintain the high standards of the meeting while safeguarding the health and safety of all our participants.
APDW has always served as a critical forum for education, promoting knowledge exchange, clinical expertise, research innovation, while serving as a platform for networking and forming genuine connections. We will continue to serve these purposes as we offer a virtual postgraduate course, pre-congress workshops, live endoscopy streaming, scientific lectures that showcase the up-to-date information with the latest innovations in the field of gastroenterology, hepatology, gastrointestinal surgery, endoscopy, career advancement symposia with many lectures including special symposia on Covid-19 led by distinguished key opinion leaders from all over the world. Despite the uncertain times we all find ourselves in, we will continue to deliver world-class education to sustain clinical and research efforts that may very well lead to significant scientific discoveries in the near future.
Allow me to also take this opportunity to extend my deepest personal appreciation for your continued support, as it is you, our most valued participants, that will bring everything Virtual APDW 2021 aspires to be, into reality. My sincere thanks, also, to the gifted scientific chairs and committee members who are giving their all to continuously deliver excellence.
I look forward to welcoming you virtually in August 2021.

Welcome Message from the President of Asian Pacific Society for Digestive Endoscopy
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
On behalf of the Asian-Pacific Society of Digestive Endoscopy (A-PSDE), it is my great pleasure to welcome all of you to the Asian Pacific Digestive Week (APDW) 2021 in Kuala Lumpur on 19 - 22 August.
Every year, APDW has been doing a great success in providing a valuable opportunity for numerous leader experts in the gastrointestinal field from the Asian-Pacific region to gather and share the latest information and technologies among ourselves.
This year, the Malaysian Society of Gastroenterology and Hepatology will be the Organising Committee. With the uncertainties of the COVID-19 situation, the Organising Committee will convert this significant event into a virtual conference, which shows their great concern on the safety of our participants and the community. With the increasing demand of online learning around the world, it is doubtless to say everyone will be craving to join APDW2021, which will be another remarkable gastrointestinal event of the year.
A-PSDE will continue to give our greatest support to the virtual congress and we look forward to seeing you online!
President, Asian Pacific Society for Digestive Endoscopy (A-PSDE)
Welcome Message from the President of Asian Pacific Association of Gastroenterology
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
I would like to commend the Organising Committee for making a wise choice to convert APDW 2021 into a digital meeting in view of the prolonged uncertainties and the tricky situation on COVID-19 in the coming months. This decision has been made in the best interest of the health safety of faculty, participants and biomedical industry partners.
As in the past years, the APDW has successfully attracted many clinicians and scientists working in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology not only from the Asia Pacific region, but from all over the world. This is the second time the APDW is held in Kuala Lumpur, the first was in 2010. The APAGE is proud to be associated in the organisation of this edition of the Congress and I am confident the Organising Committee will spare no effort to ensure that this virtual edition will equal if not surpasses the previous one in terms of scientific and academic content.
We will miss the usual opportunity to renew old friendship and make new acquaintances provided at face-to-face conferences but I am sure there will be avenues for us to meet and network on the virtual platform. Come 2022, I hope we can all meet in Xian, China for the APDW 2022.
Please come and join us for virtual APDW 2021.
President, Asian Pacific Association of Gastroenterology (APAGE)
